Software Architect

Koombea is looking for a Solution Architect to join our development team in Barranquilla or as a remote worker.

Your main focus is on the technical decisions being made regarding the solution and how they impact the business outcomes and make sure that the rest of the development team will then use the information to implement the solution.

Responsibilities

• Building and integrating information systems to meet the company’s needs.
• Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
• Resolving technical problems as they arise.
• Providing supervision and guidance to development teams.
• Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.
• Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
• Assessing the business impact that certain technical choices have.
• Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability.
• Implementation of security and data protection.
• Design data storage solutions.
• Design a scalable and maintainable Web component architecture.
• As part of an agile development team, participate in the sprint planning meetings, daily stand ups and follow the agile development process.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design.
• Previous project management experience is advantageous.
• At least 4 years of experience coding with Ruby on Rails.
• In-depth understanding of Ruby On Rails. At least two coding languages are preferred, but having knowledge and understanding in more than two, is desired. 
• Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases.
• Efficient communication skills and very good command of the English Language.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Experience working with Scrum Teams .
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Experience using testing frameworks
• Good understanding of Linux command line.
